What is a HR?

  • Gross Vehicle Mass (GVM) over 8 tonne (8000kg)

  • Has 3 axles or more

  • Any towed trailer must not weigh more than 9 tonne GVM.

  • Also includes trucks and buses in Light Rigid (LR) & Medium Rigid (MR) licence categories.

  • Includes articulated buses (a bus that can bend in the middle)

  • ROAD RANGER GEAR BOX – will give you an open licence which is required by many transport companies, also many mines require an open licence to gain access to their mines.

Prerequisites

  • Must have held a Car licence for at least 24 months (this includes the probationary driving period) or Medium Rigid (MR) for 12 months.

  • Complete a theory test at a Queensland TMR - 10 Questions (click here for practice questions)

  • Hold a valid Queensland license.

  • Become competent with the vehicle (6-10 hours average/competency based).
